Product Overview
Save energy and preserve high yields with Laitram Machinery's Rainfall Chilling System. Designed for use with the CoolSteam® series of Cookers and Blanchers, it allows your product to exit the CoolSteam® machine and immediately enter the chilling process, stopping the CoolSteam® process.
The Rainfall Chill System uses a gentle shower of water to create convection, promoting faster and even cooling of your product, shrimp, or vegetables. This innovative process quickly chills the product's core temperature, allowing it to maximize the freezer capacity without damaging its delicate texture.
Its unique impingement action replaces moisture lost during cooking, minimizing shrinkage and maximizing yield. This translates directly to increased profits for your business.
The Laitram's Rainfall Chiller operation is based on thermodynamic principles:
-
Convective Cooling (Impingement) for Maximum Yield: Moving water removes heat more efficiently than stationary water, maximizing heat transfer (similar to “wind chill” and ensuring minimal product shrinkage. Additionally, the water impingement breaks the surface tension, allowing for even faster cooling transfer.
-
Counter-Flow (Energy Savings): Rainfall Chill optimizes energy efficiency through its counter-flow design. Warmer water is applied to the hottest product, while colder water cools the already chilled product. This targeted approach minimizes wasted energy and lowers your operating costs.
The CoolSteam Rainfall Chiller and Closed Loop Water Recirculation System work together to ensure energy and water efficiency for the CoolSteam Cooking System. This solution integrates the entire chilling loop. Laitram Machinery recommends using a Closed-Loop System when:
Water availability is limited.
You want to reduce your water usage by 90%.
Water discharge costs are high.
